Sundance Kid

Sundance kid as about 2-3 years old and coming along nicely. He is gaining weight and is a pleasure to be around. SDK’s adoption is pending.

Here is a video of his first ride:

SDK is eager to please and has a nice floating trot.  He has been worked on the lunge line and in the round pen using Clinton Anderson methods. He responds very well to this method of training. He does great with the farrier and he does great when given shots. He has all his shots including west nile. SDK leads, and is beginning to trust.  He has never reared or tried to kick. SDK has been in an o ring snaffle and he settles into it very well. He flexes his head left and right, and will back up on command. He has had saddle blanket on him and a bareback pad without a problem. Sometimes he can be difficult to catch. He needs someone who wants to make a saddle horse out of him. He gets along with others and since he has be gelded he is no problem with the mares in heat. He is gaining weight nicely and is down to two feedings a day. SDK needs a soft hand and an experienced horse handler to continue his training.

The following are new photos with his progress.

    How old is Sundance now?
Would he turn out to be a great horse to barrel race if someone took the time to work with him?

    • DTHR says:

Sundance is still available but is not a barrel racing type horse.

    • Anita says:

Hi Sara, thanks for asking about Sundance. IMO I do not believe he would make a good barrel horse.

Hey, thanks for responding. I sent an email to yall but didnt hear back so here is what i sent:I was interested in Sioux and Sundance Kid. Are they still up for adoption? Have they had any more training? Also if I do decide to adopt, I know some places do not allow for rescues to be boarded but that is my only option. I have been checking out a few places for boarding but I wanted to see if yall allow for rescues to be boarded. Thank you so much for reading and I hope to hear from yall!

He is still up for adoption and I have not done anymore training with him. It is just too hot and I work all week. I do not know about boarding , you would have to ask monika thanks

          • ANITA says:

I checked about the boarding requirements. As long as we can check out their facilities and they sign an agreement to turn the horse back over to us in the event your board does not get paid, then there will not be a problem.

I have a question about a diff. horse. Is Foxtrot still available? Will she be a good horse for barrel racing if someone works with her? How old is she, how tall is she, and how much is her adoption fee? Thank You:)

Are Tucker, Miracle, and Starbucks still available?

  5. Ginny says:

Do you have a horse that would be suitable for a first time horse owner? If so, I would love some more information. Also, one that is already broken to ride. thank you so much for your help!

    • ANITA says:

Thankyou for checking out our horses. We currently do not have any ridable horses, but check back later, you never know.

On your post you mentioned that Sundance might be Gaited. Did you decide if he is or not. I’m interested in adopting a paint for eventing and dressage. I currently have one horse and she is stabled at Shangri-La Stables. I have a great trainer. Where in Alabama ishe located?
    Thank you
    Shirley Froberg

  11. Anita says:

From everything I see he is not gaited. He is being fostered in Montgomery. Thanks for asking.
